10 Ways to Get Happy

Hi loves ♥

Today I wanted to touch on something that isn't really related to fashion or beauty, but it has much importance to me and I think it's very relevant to our daily lives. This topic is Happiness. It's often easy to take things for granted and feel like you don't deserve to be happy, but no matter who you are or what your situation is, you deserve it and can achieve it. Sometimes life is hard and can feel completely sucky so I thought of 10 ways that I stay happy that will hopefully help you too.

  1. The number one rule to happiness, according to me, is to realize that nobody is perfect. This is something that took me very long to understand, but you never know what exactly is going on in someone's life. Everybody has their own problems to deal with so know that you're not alone.
  2. Another thing I try to keep in mind is that there is something good in everyday. You might have an absurdly horrible day, but there is always going to be something good, it might be something as small as the sun shining or feeling blessed that you have a place to call home, but there is always something.
  3. One thing that always improves my day is to think of three things that I have been blessed with in life and write them out in my journal. In fact, it is proven that people who do that everyday tend to be happier.
  4. Whenever I am experiencing a lack of motivation or feel just downright terrible, I hop on to YouTube and watch my favorite videos by HelloKaty or TED. Here is one of HelloKaty's best videos, in my opinion.
  5. Sometimes the best way to feel instantly happy is to just spoil yourself. Every once in a while it is good to treat yourself and forget about your problems for a little while. I love getting mani/pedi's, but hey, a massage wouldn't hurt either.
  6. Just like there's a way to fake your confidence, there's also a way to fake your happiness. No, I don't mean pretend that you're happy when you're around people and then when you get home be all sad, what I mean is actually act happy, even if you aren't. If you continue acting like you're happy, soon enough happiness will be a natural thing.
  7. One of my favorite things to do is to write motivational quotes where I know I will see them. The other day I decorated a page in my agenda with quotes, sometimes I like to write quotes on the white board that I keep in my room. These little pick-me-ups will do just that, pick you up!
  8. Nothing is better than being where you love with the people you love. I love to be around my family and friends when I'm not feeling so good, it really makes me realize how lucky I am to know such amazing people.
  9. When worst comes to worst, buy yourself a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, cuddle up in bed and watch some Netflix or a marathon of your favorite show. We all have those days.
  10. The last tip that I want to leave you guys with is to remember that you are the only person standing in the way of your own personal happiness. Life is hard, there's no doubt about that, but know that whatever life throws your way, you can be happy. Live to be happy. Strive to be happy. Influence others to be happy. Happiness is a way of life.

How do you stay happy?

My Hair Care Essentials

Hi loves

About 2 weeks ago, I shared the products that I use in My Face Routine, which a lot of you seemed to love. So this week I decided to share all of my hair care essentials and the secrets that I have to getting shiny, healthy looking hair. Since I have a very full & thick head of hair, my hair tends to be super voluminous. The funny thing is, I always see commercials marketing products that will give you volume, but in my case, I need a product that won't give my hair so much weight or make it bigger than it already is. So this past Friday after showering, I decided to try some new products in my hair. The result when I woke up the next morning was shiny, soft and oh so light (thick haired gals will understand my awe)! I thought that I would share the products that I used and some tips, so here we go!

Hair Products

This product is definitely a must-have for me! It smells amazing and leaves your hair feeling and looking silky soft and healthy. I got the travel size because it was the only one available at the store I purchased it from, but a little bit goes a long way!

I've probably had this same product for about a year now, but then again, I haven't been using it regularly until now. I love it though because it keeps your hair smelling fresh and feeling very healthy.

3. Herbal Essences Smooth Collection Shampoo- $4

As you can tell, I have used this product up!  I really love this collection, especially the fact that it has 0% Silicone!

4. Herbal Essences Smooth Collection Conditioner- $4

As I stated before, I am in love with this collection. It smells like roses & heaven.

Hair Care Tips
  1. Stop showering with hot water! Yes, it feels good, but hot water tends to strip the natural oils from your hair leaving it dry and brittle. Next time you shower, opt for a cooler temperature.
  2. Make sure to thoroughly massage your scalp when washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner to insure complete cleanliness and full use of the product.
  3. Let your hair air dry! All the strain brought on by towel drying your hair can cause it to break while blow drying your hair actually dries it out and damages it. I suggest gently wringing out the water in your hair and then blotting it with a towel so it isn't drenching wet.
  4. Apply your hair products while your hair is damp. If you apply them while your hair is too wet, it won't work to its full effect and if your hair is too dry, you need to be cautious of how much product you use so your hair doesn't appear oily, depending on the product.
  5. Drink lots of water, I cannot stress this enough! Water is an essential to glowing skin and healthy hair, it also provides a lot of other benefits as well. I like to keep a 16 ounce glass water bottle, like this one, with me at all times so I can just refill it when its empty to make sure I'm drinking at least 100 ounces a day.
What hair products do you swear by? Also, let me know if you have any hair care tips!
